I had a tough time decidng which color to get, and from the nice picture I decided to go with the saddle-brown. BIG mistake. I am used to the fact that pictures on amazon are lighter in color than the real thing, due to the way the exposure happens, but this is NOT EVEN CLOSE. The picture clearly shows a warmer-color, lighter leather similar to saddle-leather. I have seen real saddles, and this is not that color leather. The actual item has none of the slight color variation shown in the picture, no texture (besides looking like it was painted on), just a uniform, plain brown, almost marroon tinted. I am not even unwrapping it, I am sending it back ASAP. Worst let down in quite a while. I'm posting a picture just so no-one else gets duped into buying this thing. The only real reason it earns 2 stars is because it does appear to actually be leather, so it is not completely false advertising.

If you're like me and want to add a little style and class to all things basic, this is a beautifully crafted checkbook cover. It's made from high-quality leather and has matching stitching around the perimeter. There is a buckle of sorts (leather strap slides through slits cut in the cover top) that adds some personality.
It works great; however, the first time I inserted my checkbook I had a little trouble fitting it in straight. I simply tore the bottom corner off the back paper flap of my checkbook, and it slid right into place. I haven't had any trouble with it coming out. It seems to fit just right now.

Nice look and all but alas it did not fit my very pedestrian, common checkbook. Just missing maybe 1/16th of an inch for my check book cover to fit in their cover. No matter how hard I tried and twisted the checkbook. I even entertained the idea of trimming my chek book! :-D (LOL). My checkbook is the regular sized personal check provided by my bank and made by Harland Clarke (like most people I suppose).

Finally a product that lives up to its description! The banks supply us with a flimsy plastic check book holder that self destrucks along the seams soon after you get it. This cover is beefy, has a great look and develops a great patina over time. While I love the strap beig slipped through a slot it is a bit cumbersome and it would seem that velcro stitched to the strap and body would distract from the look-it might be more convenient. Would I buy again if it stayed the same without changing the closure-ABSOLUTELY!

Very nice checkbook cover. Quality leather and stitching. I purchased it for my personal checking account but was disappointed when I discovered it did not fit top-stub style checks, but that was my own fault for not doing my research. However, it does fit my business checks and I intend to use it for that purpose. I'd order another one if they had them for top-stub checks, which apparently they do not.
